North Korea Urges Married Women to Bear More Babies
North Korea recently urged its married female citizens to
bear as many babies as possible and teach them to be loyal to
their ruler Kim Jong-il, on the occasion of the 93rd
anniversary of the founding of International Women's Day,
falling on March 8.
The call came in a ceremony held in Pyongyang that day to
mark International Women's Day, which was broadcast by the
(North) Korean Central News Agency. It was also participated
by Yang Hyong-sop, vice chairman of the Presidium of the
Supreme People's Assembly, and Kim Jung-rin, secretary of the
Workers' Party Central Committee.
In a speech delivered during the ceremony, Pak Sun-hui, chief
of the Democratic Women's Union, stressed that all married
women should have as many babies as possible and bring them
up as human bombs safeguarding Kim Jong-il, said the KCNA.
To mark International Women's Day, North Korea also held a
women's rally for peace on the Korean peninsula. The
participants adopted a four-point resolution calling for,
among other things, North and South Korean women's drive
against war and for peace, according to the (North) Korean
Central Broadcasting Station.
The rally was attended by North Korean women from an array of
women's associations and government offices under the
Cabinet, including the Democratic Women's Union. (Yonhap)
